Greetings... FROM SPACE!
4.20.2008: Jumpin' Yuri on a pogo stick IN SPACE! What a great time! What a great group of people! We simply must do it again! What follows is an itemized list of thank you's and bits that have not escaped my memory. Enjoy:
Yuri’s Night 2008 Thank You’s
Izard: Split down the middle in black and white with an embrace of ambient sounds most sublime and collaboration on the Cities of the Future in the corner.
Kevan: Deliscious deep space chill and last minute curtain design that saved the day!
Killbuck: Missals, Suptniks, and live painting demonstrations so engaging, with the eye of an interior designer so needed for a Placement Despot.
Paula: Rosaria Rose planet chill-- such a fine compliment with pinks and reds. Many chilled so deep they drifted far, far away.
Sabra and Lauren: The Raffle was sooooo fun! I especially loved the little Chinese restaurant to-go boxes so people could select the specific prizes they wanted most to win.
Gemini: Your intelligent presence helped me see the larger picture.
Nathan: Your game show was a delight to be a part of. You are the scariest Zsu Zsu I love!
Dave King: For having the common sense to hang on to the burn permit.
Perky: You spinfire like a nimble minx.
Eric: Janis the Jam Wagon is the best emergency music vehicle and you saved the day! Thank you for the techno Rocket man!
What’s His Keith: Laughter, charm, wit, and style. Looking forward to your video prowess!
Goddess Donna: Just exhale, now doesn’t that feel a whole lot better?
A_Delle: She may well be the ENTIRE French space program. I too, appreciate you dear one!
Grin A lot: Hell, I could do a book on this guy. Burn Barrel with Nosferatu warmed my space suit, The Zsu Zsu sliding mechanism, and the mechanical suitor powering Jean-Michael! I heard you greeted the dawn in a glorious way.
Jeff: May I call you a friend? Friends help you move, and that’s just what you did today with all the art I could not fit in my car.
Posha: Making the run to the hardware store just because I asked. I’m afraid Feelth took those pretty lights and promises to get them back to you… for a price!
Juice: You suck! You black hole! Never trust a crossing guard entirely devoid of light reflection! (Love ya, man).
Dave and Sue: MiniMan, with your stewardship was a delight to behold and take for a spin for old time’s sake. The traffic on 4th Street was pretty astounded, and he sure liked getting hugs!
Pinemom and Titwi: Zsu Zsu’s lovely kiss was offered to all along with a whiff of her “Channel No. 2”.
El Keith: Giant lava lamp, disco ball, pimp-ass cane, and the store run to the Melting Pot… shor ‘nuff!
Noxious Bob: Jumping Larry Harvey on a pogo stick, man! That rocket ship was absolutely sensational! I loved your mission control set up and trajectory plotting! Did the monkey make it or did you club him with his own monkey wrench?
Kahele: Sometimes life just has a way of making you busier that you can possibly imagine. Your mind can’t even believe it, yet you do it—you actually pull it off. Thank you, pet, for stretching to the furthest to make it happen for our community.
Jess: I wish I could clone you, but then I would miss the original! In a chess game, some open with the knight to lay the groundwork for the rest. You, dear girl, are a knight in gleaming armor.
Cari: Thank you for that spring in your step while
setting up. You always lift the energy in the room.

Then, Saturday we close the airlock doors and you, lucky cosmonaut are "go flight"... IN SPACE!
"Check ignition and may God's love be with you" -David Bowie, Space Oddity.
Love and Rockets,
It is T-minus eight days and counting until Saturday, April 12th when our local Burner community comes together for the second annual event that reconnects us with art, friends, music. AND SPACE! I joined a conference call with Yuri's Night organizers in Bulgaria, India, Nigeria, Canada-- all over the world as we prepare to celebrate the anniversary of human space flight and we're all a-flutter! Visit the international website at www.YurisNight.net .
Because this year's event is at the smaller venues of both Bliss Nightclub and Artspace On 4th St., and the advance tickets are only $10 ($12 at the door), there is a chance it could sell out. Stop by The Melting Pot or Prism Magic Clothing to snag your launch passes quick for you and your friends.
To participate in any of the following please contact me, Mister Jellyfish, at sinktrap(at)charter(dot)net so I can hook you up with the right cosmonaut in charge:
We will be attempting a large screen live video link with other Yuri's Night events around the world.
We need a crater full of pillows for the Deep Space Chill Zone, the coziest snuggle pit... IN SPACE!
Finger food is better than Space Food Sticks, but both will work for peckish cosmonauts at an all-night party. To make sure we don't all bring the same chow to this pot luck, please chime in now.
Bob Noxious is building a rocket and chill pit in a satellite dish. To participate in his work days, roger-beep on your sub-either wavelength above.
Mini-Theme Camp and art placement is going fast. Placement Despot, Kernul Killbuck can reserve your spot... IN SPACE!
Because the dual venues are across the street from each other, mutant vehicle artists would be perfect for occasional shuttle service. If you're not street legal, you may get by with a free DMV one-day-move permit.
The burn permit is "Go" for outdoor fire performing. Justin of Reno Controlled Burn will be in charge of outdoor fire art until 1:00 AM, after that we need a volunteer (he wants to play too!). Show up at the following if you plan to spin or burn:
Final Yuri's Night Planning Mixer: "Mission Critical" will take place Friday, April 11th, 7:30 PM (eve of the event) at Bliss Nightclub. Please come prepared by joining our conversations NOW at:
The Yuri's Night chat board on Tribe: http://tribes.tribe.net/reno-yuri is where we work out details. When you post there, get ready for a space-age welcome!
Zsu Zsu's Game Show will be performed at 11:45 PM at the Deep Space Chill Zone (Artspace on 4th St.). Will the REAL Zsu Zsu stand up?!
Things will be better... IN SPACE!
We need pillows! Izard and Kevan need soft and cushy lounging for the Deep Space Chill Room. Dig deep for space age softness and bring to the final planning meeting on Friday, April 11th at 7:30 PM (The night before the event).
Nathan will be organizing "Zsu Zsu's Game Show" (Will the REAL Zsu Zsu please stand up... IN SPACE!) that will take place in the chill room at midnight. Please contact him if you want to participate at preserverential(at)yahoo(dot)com.
The new handbills are printed
and look awesome! Thanks to Dave Cherry, Killbuck, and d6 for making
it happen. We turned in our application for special use permit with
the City of Reno so we should have smooth space sailing there. The
next Planning mixer takes place on Saturday, March 15th at 7:30 PM at Bliss
Nightclub. Click here for details:
The first planning meeting will be at the Basement of the Red Rock Lounge, 271 S. Sierra Street on Friday, January 4th at 8:00 PM followed by hobnobbing with all of us Space Dorxxx to the tunes that d6 will spin.
